"Set it and forget it"

As the days lengthen, it’s time to bring your air conditioning system out of hibernation. This is when preventive maintenance by a licensed contractor or certified HVAC technician will keep you and your family cool on even the hottest days. An annual AC servicing agreement makes sure you don’t skip this vital step, and might also offer side benefits such as a between-visit warranty and necessary parts needed for repairs.

The spring season marks the weather shift as we start to transition towards summer heat. This is by far the best time to schedule your air conditioner maintenance for the year. Some parts of the process, like regularly replacing your air filter, can and should be done by yourself as often as you like, but actual fully-fledged maintenance must be left to the pros.

It takes a highly qualified and experienced contractor to handle demanding and technical tasks such as motor inspection, coil cleaning and electrical connections. Trying to save money may put yourself and your loved ones at risk, after all this is a very delicate task if you really want it to yield tangible home comfort results. But what can you really expect out of this? Here’s a quick link to our number – Click to call or text – 877-839-1122

We Make It Simple: AC Repair Cost Estimates

Now that the weather is getting warmer, we are approaching the time of year where HVAC contractors will have many air conditioning repair jobs lined up. Although it is not our hope that you face any issues with your unit, this can happen at times and for better or worse you better be prepared. Many homeowners may find themselves in a panic due to the sudden loss of cooling in their homes.  You may find yourself in a double trouble situation:  sweating from the temperature, and sweating from the anticipated cost of fixing your unit.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON A SERVICE CALL FOR AIR CONDITIONING REPAIR

The first repair cost you will see is the service call charge. This fee is usually to cover the overall assessment of your system, which includes their diagnosis and time spent. In terms of price, you will find it should cost between $60 and $150.  During an emergency, it can be double this cost, especially if it is during a holiday, overnight, or weekend.  We know this sounds expensive.  However, there is good news!  Coupons are often available to cover the service call.  Keep this in mind and ask for it.  Check the website as well.  You may be pleasantly surprised to find this money-saving resource.

HOW TO AVOID AIR CONDITIONING REPAIR COSTS

You may be worried right now about these high costs.  We understand.  That is why we are providing you with these troubleshooting steps to take before you determine that you need to pay for the repair costs mentioned above. There are some issues that stem from the power source of the system, or the air filter.  These are often the easiest to fix, even by homeowners with no prior knowledge of HVAC systems.

How to Troubleshoot AC Power Source Issues

We suggest you begin with your thermostat. Check the settings to be sure they are correct.  The vacation mode, or hold, may be accidentally on.  Be sure the selected temperature is correct, and it is a couple of degrees under the temperature of your home.  Otherwise, it will not turn on.

The next important, yet simple matter, is to check the batteries.  Check your breaker box as well. The third simple fix to check is the on/off switches near the indoor air handler and outdoor condenser unit.  Be sure these are on.  Check your breaker panel once more to see that there is no tripped breaker.

How to Troubleshoot AC Filter Issues

Your filter must be inserted in the correct direction into the filter cabinet.  The airflow indicators are printed on the frame of the filter.  Check these.  The filter must be the correct size and should fit snugly. You may need to replace it with a clean filter, if it is dirty.  Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and drying it properly.
